Free Photo Day

Free Photo Day

Started as free photo week but changed to day.

I have decided to get more pro-active in creating and promoting Free Software and Free Culture / Art.

I want to experiment with business / funding models for those creating Free Art. I hope to document the experiments I run and the results I get in order to help others who are on the journey to create Free Art and support themselves along the way.

The first test will be a campaign on Indiegogo based around photography. You can see the campaign on Indiegogo here:

Free Photo Day Campaign at Indiegogo.

One day of photos to be taken and placed under a BY-SA license. Perks offered including thanks, photo print, printed photo book, credit in photo book, dedication page in photo book, royalty free use of some / all photos taken for the day.

Note to artists:

This modern world we live in makes all sorts of new possibilities available to you. Connect with your fans, journey with them and enjoy it. Your art is powerful, your supporters deserve your respect. If you are interested in finding ways to survive and prosper with the help of your fans and respecting them and their own art at the same time, join the journey to Freedom.

Note to fans / funders:

The money you spend on art is powerful. Give it to artists who make art you love *and* who will respect your participation in the art you fund. Artists who will not treat you like a criminal just because you want to give a copy to a friend, build on the art you funded, or make a mashup or remix.

It is time for artists and their fans / supporters to reclaim the freedom that has been absent for too long now.
